I hope that all of you are well and safe; I’m pleased to say that the HHPS Committee Members (Penny, Rosie, Rick, Paul and David) are all fine.

In line with Government/PHE/NHS Coronavirus advice, The Bell Inn will be closed for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, starting this month, we will be holding ‘virtual’ meetings starting with Simon Van-Orden: “Images from Africa” this month and our postponed AGM in June – see below.  Please keep an eye on our website for updates.

We intend to run virtual meetings using Zoom as long as is necessary and we would really like our members to participate.
This is a very unusual time. I hope that many of you while self-isolating over these weeks and months will get your cameras out (even if it’s only in the back garden) to keep yourselves busy and focused on more pleasant ventures to keep up our mental health and wellbeing during these trying times.

This month’s online meeting: Wednesday, 20th May at 8pm: Simon Van-Orden – Images from Africa.
His presentation will be a personal view on photographing African wildlife in its environment and endeavouring to capture unique images from his perspective.
Simon is a local photographer based near Epson who is well known for his nature photography. His images are sure to be stunning which is why we have asked him back – see the elephant below – but quite a contrast to the polar region ones he showed us last September.
If you are not a Society Member and you would like to come along to the online meeting, please sign up at here:

April’s meeting was CANCELLED
: the speaker we had lined up, Chris Hutchinson, will show his presentation in November instead.

Wednesday, 17th June at 8pm, online meeting: AGM followed by projection of Members’ Photos
The AGM (postponed from March): A new notification will be emailed to members at the beginning of June.
Afterwards we will look at the members’ photos that we have already received for the now cancelled May SPA inter-club PDI championship.

Wednesday, 15th July at 8pm, by video conference: We are arranging a speaker to present his images – details to follow.

Reminder: As announced last month, the committee has decided to extend the 2019/2020 membership year from the end of March to the end of June 2020 – this is to allow the postponed AGM.
Also, the subscription for 2020/21 will only be £25 for July to March.

The Royal Photographic Society (RPS) is running a special offer of 20% off for new Memberships for anyone who attends any RPS event in May – all events are currently online only.  This applies to both free and paid events – whether organised by RPS HQ, the Regions or the Special Interest Groups.  See the link here:

Hope to see all of you at our first virtual meeting, until then,
