CHANGES TO OUR PROGRAMME:

Due to the Coronavirus risk, in line with Government/PHE/NHS advice, we had to cancel our meetings in March, including the AGM, and April. We will not be meeting at The Bell Inn until September at the earliest. We ran our May meeting using Zoom which proved successful and we will continue with Zoom including, at least, the postponed AGM in June and David Keep in July – see below.
Please keep an eye on our website for updates.

MAY meeting

For the first time in our club’s history, we organised a presentation via Zoom. Simon Van-Orden showed us his fabulous Wildlife images from various trips to Africa. Kenya, Tanzania, Namibia etc.  Wonderful to see the endearing close-up images of the gorillas from Rwanda.
This meeting proved very successful and we will continue to hold meetings via Zoom..

FUTURE MEETINGS:

Wednesday, 17th June at 8pm, by video conference: AGM (postponed from March) followed by projection of Members’ Photos

Members will have received the Notice, Agenda and three reports for the AGM. If you haven’t, please email Penny here: secretary@hamptonhillps.org.uk
We expect the AGM to only occupy part of the first hour and we will then look at members’ photos.  We have already received images from some Members for the May SPA inter-club PDI championship.
We need more images from Members (max. six from each) to provide a great show for our evening. What I thought would be particularly interesting is the images you may have taken during Lockdown. For some, this has been and may still be a very lonely experience, especially if you have been staying in shielding. Photography can be a saviour! Images could be from your house and garden or maybe from your daily exercise. If you have not been taking images during the lockdown, please look at images you have taken over the past year or so; or look through your archive!
Our Chairman, David, will be sending a Dropbox link to Members with a reminder of those who already submitted images for the SPA Competition.

Wednesday, 15th July at 8pm.

David Keep ARPS, DPAGB, FBPE, EFIAP is a multi-award-winning photographer and a lecturer who is based in Chesterfield. He will be showing us his Underwater Photography 1. His images are truly incredible, and this promises to be a fantastic presentation. He says: “I’m passionate about all forms of photography & confess to spending far too much time doing it! However, I’d describe myself as an image maker not a photographer, as I enjoy the post-processing just as much as taking the photo. My favourite genre is underwater photography because it combines the two greatest passions in my life – photography & diving.”
Due to the distance and expense, we would not normally be able to afford such a high-profile speaker but Zoom now allows us to have him for the evening!

We will be sending Members the Zoom meeting link on the day of the meeting.  If you are not a Society Member and you would like to come along to the online meeting, please sign up and pay the Guest Fee of £2.50 at Meetup.com here: https://www.meetup.com/Hampton-Hill-Photographic-Society/events/271711431/

Wednesday, 19th August at 8pm.

We are looking to book another speaker via Zoom.  Again, this allows us to look beyond the local area as travelling does not become an issue or additional cost.

ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS:

As you know the committee decided to extend the 2019/2020 membership year to the end of June.  Normally it would have ended on 31st March. Subscriptions are due after this month’s AGM and Members will receive an e-mail telling them how to do this. I hope you will all renew to keep our small but talented and enthusiastic club going.

Keep well & stay safe
