NEXT MEETING

In person at the Bell Inn, Hampton
A presentation by Julian Elliott on Patagonia:  Journey to the end of the World
Juian will join the meeting via ZOOM.

An award-winning professional freelance landscape and travel photographer as well as an occasional writer, Julian constantly travels the world.
A lot of his time is spent in South-East and Central Asia capturing landscapes and cityscapes along with the various cultures that inhabit those countries, but he also travels across Europe and South America.  Tonight, we have chosen to hear about his adventures in Patagonia, a talk which has received much praise from others who have had the opportunity to hear it.
Here is the link to Julian’s website where you can read more about him and his work:  Travel & Landscape Photographer – Julian Elliott – UK & France  and here is a link to his Gallery, where you can see some of his photos of Patagonia and Tierra Del Fuego Photos of Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego & Torres del Paine

LAST MEETING
Wednesday 21st May
The group enjoyed a presentation from local photographer Yasi Avon.  Yasi photographs live music performances by individuals or groups, generally playing popular or jazz music. She shared her work with us and explained how she went about getting permission to photograph at gigs.  She also discussed the direction she is taking with her work now and her long-term plans and ideas for the future.  We very much appreciated the time Yasi took and the insights she gave us into the world of Gigs photography.

CHRISTMAS COMPETITION – Wednesday 17th December
It does seem early to be featuring the 2025 Christmas Competition in this newsletter but in order for everyone to have the chance to prepare for the Christmas competition, we need to decide on the theme at this, the June meeting.
Please email me, David, chairman@hamptonhillps.org.uk with your suggestions for a theme or topic which you think would be challenging (but not too difficult!) and fun for our group.

At the end of this week’s meeting after Julian’s presentation, we will discuss the proposals and will vote on the subject / theme.   This will give everyone plenty of time to think about their potential entries and enable us to arrange a guest speaker on the selected topic / theme as we did last year.

FUTURE MEETINGS
We will continue the plan where possible with, each quarter, a presentation from a “high level” speaker, probably via “zoom to the room”, a presentation from a local speaker and members’ picture sharing.  However, the pattern for these meetings has changed with picture-sharing in March and again in April, when we selected images for the SPA competition.  So, our picture sharing sessions for the April 25 to March 26 year should be: – September, December (Christmas Competition) and March, after the AGM.  Of course, these dates may change due to opportunities for speakers etc. – but it’s helpful to have a plan, isn’t it?

Dates for next meetings are:
Wednesday 16th July – Speaker/presentation
Wednesday 20th August – Speaker/presentation
Wednesday 17th September – Picture Sharing.
