Wishing you a Merry and Happy Christmas and a Successful and Enjoyable 2026.
LAST MEETINGS
Wednesday 17th December Christmas Competition and Social
We started the evening at the Bell Inn Hampton with a very enjoyable meal brilliantly organised for us by Penny. We then went upstairs for this year’s competition about “Light.” 13 members put in a total of 39 entries, which included sunsets, backlit waterfowl, night-time events and light painting, to name but a few!
Congratulations to Penny Westmoreland, outright winner of the 2025 Christmas Competition with her picture of Lights at Kew!

And also, congratulations to Mike Eaton in 2nd Place and Judy Hicks in 3rd Place.
We were very lucky to have Graeme Wales as our judge. Graeme is highly qualified and experienced judge and understood the fact that we are not a competitive club. He had received the images in advance and had clearly given them much thought, giving critique on each picture and offering his ideas and suggestions on how we might take our work forward in a very constructive and helpful way. After commenting on each image, Graeme produced a shortlist of seven, from which he chose three preferred images each of a different genre, on which Members were invited to vote.
November 19th John Humphrey:
John Humphrey presented photographs covering a wide range of subjects but particularly on his specialist subjects of close-up, floral and abstract studies using a combination of digital and film images.
A Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, his pictures have been shown in many exhibitions, including the London Salon of Photography and the International Print and Projected Exhibitions of the Royal Photographic Society.
He is generous in sharing his tips and techniques and the members seemed to be quite enthralled with his presentation.
If you would like to see more of John’s work, or buy one of his books or prints, here’s his website: here

I am writing separately to members about their entries, but please come along on the opening night and enjoy the work and our usual enjoyable social event! Or come along on any of the days to either library and vote for your two favourite pictures!
Wednesday 21st January at the Bell Inn – A presentation by David Rutter FRPS.
David is a highly accomplished photographer with a wide range of skills from Visual Arts to Street; there is little that he cannot demonstrate. Here is his website: www.davidrutterphotography.com where you will see his amazing and apparently simple FRPS panel, together with much of his other work. We really look forward to welcoming him to our January meeting.
