NEXT MEETING
Wednesday 20th August at 8.00pm
In person at the Bell Inn, Hampton
A presentation by Caroline Preece LRPS “Tools not Rules”
Caroline will be presenting via ZOOM to the room.

This talk will introduce people to a different way of thinking about photography and composition: it is about empowering people to make informed decisions as opposed to worrying about rules and whether to break them!

The first part of the talk covers photography as a visual language and communicating your personal take on the world through your images.
In the second part Caroline aims to provide you with an understanding of the psychology behind how people interpret the visual elements within an image; and the impact of your compositional choices on the end image and how the viewer experiences it. This will help you communicate more effectively through your images; ensure your photos say what you want them to say and feel like you want them to feel; and enable you to create images with impact.

About Caroline:
Caroline is an experienced speaker and has given talks at the Royal Photographic Society Visual Arts Group Bi-annual Conference; and to the Royal Photographic Society East Midlands and Western Region branches; Camversation; My Photoclub; Emma Davies Photo School Camera Club; PhotoClub247; PAGB Southern Federation Annual Judges Conference; Doug Chinnery’s and Valda Bailey’s ‘FYV’; and numerous camera clubs in England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

LAST MEETING
Wednesday 16th July
We enjoyed an in person presentation by Fred Barrington, FRPS “My View of the World”.

Fred describes himself as an enthusiastic amateur who has lived in london all his life but is well-travelled – his travels have taken him from Antarctica to Cambodia as well as many countries in Europe (Italy,  Sicily, Spain, the Canaries, France) and of course England.
Fred talked about his photography and showed us many images from his long photographic career.  Many of his images are lines and shapes, patterns and colours and architectural – often with a dash of humour.
Until recently he was President of Beckenham Photographic Society, Fred is an active volunteer with RPS London and with the RPS Visual Arts Special Interest Group. His recent solo exhibition in Mayfair jointly with James Kirkland was highly successful.
You can see more of his work here on his website:  Fred Barrington and on his Instagram Account https://fredbarrington.com/
